My 600-lb Life Joe Wexler: Where Is He Now?

Joe Wexler Now

Joe Wexler appeared on My 600-lb Life season 3 and left a big impact on viewers. In 2015, he weighed nearly 800 pounds and had severe food addiction from childhood trauma.

His father’s emotional neglect made him turn to food for comfort. This created lifelong eating habits that got worse over time. He was just 28 years old but felt like a prisoner in his own body. He even thought about suicide.

His mother, Robin, and sister, Annie, supported him through everything. He went to Dr. Younan Nowzaradan for help and started changing his life. Years later, he has continued to improve his health and personal life.

Where Is Joe Wexler Now?

Joe Wexler has kept his weight off and built a much healthier life since leaving the show. He moved to Tennessee and works full-time in the IT field.

He didn’t stop there, though – he went back to school to earn a doctorate in IT because he wants to keep growing professionally.

A spine injury from 2016 still bothers him sometimes, but he stays active and physically stable. His personal life underwent significant changes as well.

Joe married again after reconnecting with an old friend and adopted her daughter. He enjoys sharing family updates, like when his daughter started high school or when they work on home projects together.

His social media presence reveals a man who appears genuinely happy. He shares his everyday life and tends to motivate those working on their weight loss.

At least, he is not taking life lightly, as it is his second chance. The transformation gave him more than just physical health – it gave him a whole new future.

Joe’s Journey on My 600-lb Life

At the beginning of season 3, Joe weighed 777 pounds and needed immediate intervention. Dr. Now informed him that he would need to lose 150 pounds before qualifying for gastric bypass surgery.

To stay close to the doctor’s supervision, Joe and his mother relocated from Johnson City, Tennessee, to Houston.

Although he initially gained 15 pounds, he didn’t give up. A therapy session helped him confront the emotional scars left by his father, and he eventually dropped to 652.2 pounds, meeting the goal for surgery.

Joe underwent a successful gastric bypass operation and later had excess skin removed.

In My 600-Lb Life: Where Are They Now?, which aired in 2016, he revealed that he had lost a total of 418 pounds since starting his journey.

Joe’s Love Life and Personal Struggles

Joe found love the first time through an online weight loss support group where he met Sarah. They tied the knot in 2016, but their marriage crumbled three years later when Sarah had an affair.

The betrayal really messed with his head, and he slipped backward with his eating habits for a while, though he managed to get himself together again.

After his divorce, Joe headed back to Tennessee feeling pretty beaten down. That’s when he bumped into a woman he’d known for over 12 years – sometimes the best things come from unexpected places. They fell in love and got married.

Joe also adopted her daughter, which meant everything to him. Having a real family again has been one of the best parts of his whole journey. It brought him the kind of peace and happiness he’d been searching for his entire life.

Joe Faced a Personal Loss

In September 2022, Joe had to say goodbye to his mother Robin, who died at just 57 after battling multiple health problems. This wasn’t just any loss – Robin had been Joe’s rock throughout his entire weight loss battle.

She stuck by him through everything, even making that long trip to Houston and staying right there when he needed her most.

In tribute, he poured his heart out and wrote, “Her mortal body now has no life but now she begins a new journey with the Lord our God.

You could feel the pain in his words. Robin wasn’t just his supporter – she was the person who never gave up on him, even when he had given up on himself.

Now Joe continues living on without the woman who helped save his life. He knows she’d want him to keep going strong, and that’s precisely what he’s doing.

Robin’s love and faith in her son became the foundation for everything good that happened to him afterward.
