Druski made history on Saturday Night Live this weekend. The comedian, whose real name is Drew Desbordes, became the first digital content creator ever to host the show in its 52-season run. He took over Studio 8H on Saturday, November 7, with The Strokes as musical guests — and he did it on his own terms.

In more than five decades, SNL has handed its stage to film stars, athletes, politicians, musicians, and stand-ups. It had never handed it to someone whose audience found him on Instagram Live. On Saturday night, that line finally fell.

How Druski’s Saturday Night Live Debut Made History

NBC announced the booking on October 22, and the news landed as a statement about where comedy now lives. Druski rose to fame through viral Instagram Live broadcasts and character sketches. Then he turned that following into the Coulda Been empire, a record-label parody turned multimedia brand with more than 1 billion views on YouTube. He built a career without a network’s permission — then the network came calling.

The timing says a lot. Rolling Stone named him its No. 1 Most Influential Creator of 2026. Just five days before the show, Netflix announced a multi-year deal with Druski and his company, 4LIFERS Entertainment. So his Druski Saturday Night Live debut arrived at the peak of a remarkable month.

What Happened in Druski’s SNL Monologue?

Druski opened with a monologue that set the tone fast. He told the audience SNL had given him two rules: no cussing, and no “whiteface.” Then he joked that he could not promise either one. It was a warning, and he kept it.

The biggest surprise came midway through, when Emma Stone walked out to join him. Stone, a five-time SNL host herself, turned up to plug The Catch, the upcoming Universal romantic comedy she stars in with Druski. He joked that he was playing her love interest in the film. The Catch, which also stars Chris Pine, opens in theaters on May 21, 2027.

Before the show, Druski had already told fans what the night meant to him. In a promo video released earlier in the week, he said hosting was “actually better than my childhood dream,” adding, “My childhood dreams were horrible.” He also joked that he would host “the last-ever episode of SNL.” On Saturday, the joke landed differently: this was the start of a new kind of host.

Why the “Dru Can See Everything” Sketch Stole the Night

The most talked-about moment was a pre-taped parody called “Dru Can See Everything.” It took aim at You Can See Everything, the Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim documentary about disgraced Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes.

In the sketch’s version of events, Holmes and her partner Billy Evans approached Druski to make their documentary first. Jane Wickline played Holmes, and Ben Marshall played Evans. The couple invited Druski into their home to tell their story. He sized them up fast. “Y’all got some of the weirdest, freakiest vibes I done ever seen,” he told them.

Then came the gag he had teased in the monologue. To recreate moments from Holmes’s life, Druski put on a wig and pale makeup and played the disgraced entrepreneur himself. The sketch became the night’s most discussed moment within minutes. Deadline called it one of the funniest sketches of the season. Consequence singled out Wickline’s impression of Holmes as spot-on.

The parody landed because its target is everywhere right now. The real film follows Holmes and Evans in the 34 days before she reported to prison in 2023 for fraud. It opened in theaters on October 16 after a Telluride premiere in September. It took in $15.6 million from just 855 theaters in its opening weekend. That is the biggest debut for a documentary since Fahrenheit 9/11 in 2004. Documentaries are having a moment on Netflix too: The One About Matthew Perry just topped the US chart last week.

The Rest of the Night: Phone Stores, Politics and a Star-Packed Goodbye

Druski appeared in sketches across the night. They included a fictional political news show called Washington in Focus, a Dominican phone store scene with Jeremy Culhane, Mikey Day, and Marcello Hernández, and a birthday dinner sketch.

The Strokes made their fifth appearance as musical guests, performing while promoting their latest album, Reality Awaits. The show closed with Druski on stage with Dave Chappelle, Michael B. Jordan, Chris Rock, Emma Stone, Walton Goggins, and newly elected Texas Senator James Talarico.

From Instagram Live to Studio 8H: Druski’s Rise

Druski’s path to Studio 8H did not run through the usual comedy pipeline. He built his audience sketch by sketch.

Dec 1, 2026 Collect & Praise premieres on Netflix His viral megachurch pastor character goes long-form

What’s Next for Druski After Saturday Night Live?

The SNL stage was only the first date on a crowded calendar. Collect & Praise, the first series from his Netflix deal, premieres December 1 — the same day Netflix’s conspiracy thriller Trinity arrives. The semi-scripted comedy builds on his viral megachurch pastor sketch, which drew more than 9 million likes on TikTok. Druski plays the money-hungry pastor, and Mike Epps plays his unpredictable deacon. Netflix is also licensing his Coulda Been catalog, including Coulda Been Love and Coulda Been Records Auditions.

Then comes the big screen: The Catch opens May 21, 2027, with Druski starring opposite Emma Stone and Chris Pine.

Saturday night delivered more than one headline. The same evening, Donald Trump offered UFC chief Dana White a White House job. But the story that will be rewatched is Druski’s. A creator who built his career on his own phone walked into Studio 8H, broke the show’s only two rules, and left with the night.
