Michael Madsen divorced his wife, DeAnna, after 28 years of marriage. The actor from Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill faced significant family problems in his final years.
Sadly, he passed away from cardiac arrest at his Malibu home on July 3, 2025, at the age of 67 years old. Before he passed away, he had started divorce proceedings.
He was dealing with grief, family conflicts, and relationship troubles during those final months. His personal life had become very tricky and stressful.
Michael Madsen Divorced DeAnna in 2024
Michael Madsen decided to divorce his wife, DeAnna, in September 2024. Their marriage had lasted 28 years since they got married on April 15, 1996. Together, they raised three sons named Calvin, Hudson, and Luke.
Everything fell apart after they lost their son, Hudson, in January 2022. Hudson had become a U.S. Army sergeant, but he took his own life at 26 years old. This tragedy destroyed the family.
Kalvin and Luke don’t like being in public. They appeared in some family pictures and occasionally attended events with their dad, but mostly stayed out of the way of cameras and reporters.
When Michael filed the divorce papers, he wrote down “irreconcilable differences” as the reason. However, he explained that this simple phrase couldn’t fully capture what had happened.
Furthermore, Michael blamed DeAnna for contributing to Hudson’s death. He said she had problems with “neglect, drinking, and alcoholism” that made things worse.
He called their marriage abusive, co-dependent, and toxic. The problems got bigger when DeAnna broke into his house without permission.
Police arrested Michael on domestic violence charges after this happened, but they dropped the case later because they didn’t have enough evidence. Later, he asked for a restraining order to keep DeAnna away from him after all this.
On the other hand, DeAnna had her version of what happened. She explained that Michael had been going through severe personal struggles.

Michael’s Other Marriages Before DeAnna
Michael Madsen was married twice before DeAnna came into his life.
His first wife was Georganne LaPiere, who happens to be singer Cher’s half-sister. They got married in 1984 but parted ways in 1988 when things began to fall apart between them.
Later, he married Jeannine Bisignano in 1991, but the marriage also ended in divorce in 1995. He had two sons with her – Christian and Max.
Christian became an actor, like his dad, and landed roles in movies such as Divergent and Palo Alto. Max also works in entertainment, but he doesn’t receive as much attention.
Moreover, Michael had his first daughter, Jessica, with Dana Mechling. His first child, Jessica, was born in 1979 to Dana Mechling. Jessica lives her life away from the public, and not much is heard about her.
Nonetheless, he had gone through two failed marriages before meeting DeAnna. His romantic life had its ups and downs over the years.
