My 600-lb Life Bettie Jo Elmore: Where Is She Now?

Bettie Jo Elmore Now

Bettie Jo Elmore appeared on My 600-lb Life Season 3 when she was 24 years old. She was not only dealing with extreme weight problems but also emotional issues at the time.

She weighed 654 pounds during her episode and needed a lot of help from her boyfriend, Josh Elmore. Their relationship had problems because Bettie was trying to become more independent while also working on her health.

Dr. Nowzaradan’s program, combined with regular therapy sessions, helped her lose over 200 pounds. She kept working on her transformation even after the cameras stopped filming.

Several years have passed since her time on the show, and here is what her life looks like today in 2025.

Where Is Bettie Jo Elmore Now?

As of 2025, Bettie Jo is still working on her weight loss journey. She shared a post clarifying that she had once weighed over 800 pounds but has since dropped to about 350 pounds.

Bettie has not yet reached her goal weight, but she remains committed to making progress. She has talked about wanting skin removal surgery, but her health problems have stopped this from happening.

She had severe problems after a hernia surgery, which caused an infection that led to many hospital visits. In her posts, she talked about feeling intense pain and said she missed being with her infant son.

Bettie mentioned wanting to return to work, but noted that her recovery process has been slow and challenging. She shares updates on Instagram and once asked her followers for basic baby supplies.

When she needed clothing and other items for her youngest son, she posted a list of what she needed on social media but didn’t start a fundraiser.  At that time, she said she had only six outfits for the baby.

Bettie Jo’s Weight Loss Journey

When Bettie Jo first appeared on the show, she was living in Potosi, Missouri. Her size made her daily life very hard.

She talked about constant physical pain and the emotional stress of needing Josh to take care of her. Josh said in therapy that he was afraid she might leave him if she became more independent.

The couple moved to Houston, Texas, to start her treatment under Dr. Nowzaradan. Dr. Now gave her a custom weight loss plan and recommended therapy to help the couple work on their relationship problems.

The therapy sessions helped Bettie and Josh talk about their dreams and brought them closer together. She lost enough weight to qualify for gastric bypass surgery. After the surgery, her weight lowered to around 445 pounds.

However, her progress stopped when she became pregnant.

Pregnancy and Medical Complications

During Bettie Jo’s pregnancy, doctors found a large bone mass on her spine that could lead to paralysis. Surgery to remove it would put her unborn child at serious risk.

She decided to continue through the pregnancy despite facing this danger.

On August 10, 2016, Bettie gave birth to her first son, Preston Elmore. The delivery was successful without any issues. Following the birth, doctors removed the mass from her spine and then started therapy and weight management again.

At this time, her focus shifted. She had to learn how to manage her health needs while caring for her new family.

Bettie Jo’s Family Life

Bettie Jo and Josh have stayed together through years of ups and downs. As of 2025, they are still married and recently celebrated their second kid’s 3rd birthday.

In May 2022, their second child, Oliver Lamont Elmore, was born early at just 2.5 pounds. People call him Ollie. He had breathing problems and stayed in the hospital for more than two months.

Bettie Jo shared her pregnancy and Ollie’s early medical problems on Instagram. Since then, Ollie has grown well and continues to do well.

Moreover, in December 2023, the couple welcomed a third son named Erickson Aries Salvatore Elmore. Just like her second child, Erickson also had breathing problems.
