In a franchise built on sight-unseen romance, few moments have been as uncomfortable as the Jax Love Is Blind reveal. This week, Jax Guelli finally broke her silence on why she walked away from fiancé Scott “Stew” Stewart minutes after meeting him face to face.
The Boston-set Season 11 premiered on Netflix on October 14 with five episodes. By Episode 4, viewers watched Jax accept Stew’s proposal in the pods. Then she told producers “I gotta get out of here” after their first in-person meeting. Within two days, the story had exploded, with “jax love is blind” surging past 2,000 trending searches in the US.
What happened between Jax and Stew on Love Is Blind
In an interview with Netflix’s Tudum, Jax admitted Stew’s proposal left her cold. She had hoped he would pour real thought into his words. Instead, his speech felt to her like a “superficial checklist” that was not about her at all. She decided to trust the process anyway. Then the reveal changed everything.
The reveal that broke the engagement
When the wall finally lifted in Episode 4, the chemistry Jax had felt in the pods evaporated. She called the meeting “so weird” and “not romantic at all.” When Stew mentioned his friends nicknamed him “Kennedy,” Jax shot back that he looked “more like Mitt Romney.”
In a Glamour interview, she explained the jab. She felt Stew was being cocky, name-dropping the Kennedy comparison and, per her account, comparing himself to Jude Law, while barely asking about her. She had wanted the moment to finally be about her. It was not.
Still, Jax insists the exit was never about his looks. “What I felt was real at that time,” she told Tudum, “and it had nothing to do with him or his looks.” She says she went into “flight mode” and left without an explanation. That decision is the one thing she now regrets. “I wish I had handled it better,” she said. “He deserved a conversation.”
Stew, for his part, seemed blindsided. Producers told him Jax had gone home and did not want to speak to him at that moment. She also skipped the cast getaway trip. He later called the reveal “incredibly awkward” and said he was not faulting her for finding it strange. In a joint interview with Elite Daily, he added, “Everybody deserves some grace.”

Why the reveal is the hardest test in the Love Is Blind experiment
Every season of the show hinges on one brutal transition: from voices behind a wall to a real person standing in front of you. Contestants date through the pods for roughly ten days, then get engaged. The reveal is the first moment bodies, mannerisms, and energy enter the equation. As a result, it is no surprise that the moment breaks some couples. Cold feet after reveals are common. A same-day walkout, however, remains rare. That is why Jax’s exit became the season’s defining moment within hours.

This season carries extra weight. Season 11 is the first set in Boston, with 30 singles between 28 and 40. It follows a record-breaking Season 10 in Ohio that produced seven engagements — a franchise record. Season 9 in Washington DC, meanwhile, famously sent zero couples to the altar. The pressure on this season’s couples is enormous.

Are Jax and Stew still together? What is next
Episode 5 showed the former couple meeting at a restaurant to talk things out. Jax revealed her family encouraged her to give Stew another chance. “My family loves him,” she said. She would not reveal, however, how things ended between them.

Viewers will have to wait for answers. Episodes 6–8 arrive October 21, Episodes 9–11 follow on October 28, and the finale lands November 4. A reunion date has not been announced yet. For now, Jax says she regrets the ghosting, not the decision itself. Stew says he would not have done anything differently. Whether the pods were right about these two is the season’s biggest open question.
