The Lisa Rinna Rumors Off-Broadway revival is now open for general ticket sales, and it brings one of reality TV’s most famous casts to the New York stage. Rinna leads the first of two rotating companies in Neil Simon’s 1988 farce Rumors. In addition, seven of her co-stars come from Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise. As a result, fans must pick a cast, not just a date.

The show runs for a limited 14-week engagement. First, Rinna’s company performs from January 9 to February 28, 2027. Then, a second company takes over from March 2 to April 21, 2027. However, the script stays the same. Only the faces change, and that twist is the whole point.

Lisa Rinna Rumors Off-Broadway: Who Is in Each Cast?

The production uses two wholly separate casts. For example, Rinna plays Chris in the first company. Phaedra Parks plays Claire, Stacey Rusch plays Cookie, and Dolores Catania plays Cassie. Meanwhile, the second company swaps all four roles. Cynthia Bailey plays Chris, Eileen Davidson plays Claire, Carole Radziwill plays Cookie, and Candiace Dillard-Bassett plays Cassie.

So far, the husbands have not been cast. Additional casting will follow, according to the production. But the eight women already give the show its headline hook.

Seven of the eight women make their New York stage debuts in this show. Rinna is the exception. She played Roxie Hart in Broadway’s Chicago in 2007. Also, she returns to Broadway this holiday season in It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, alongside her husband, Harry Hamlin. In short, Rinna anchors the project with real stage experience.

What Is Rumors About?

Rumors is a farce about a dinner party that falls apart fast. Four couples gather in a wealthy New York suburb for a deputy mayor’s tenth wedding anniversary. Instead, they find their host in an alarming state, his wife missing, and the police on the way. Then, the guests scramble to invent a story. Each new lie makes the night worse, and funnier.

Director Zhailon Levingston, a Tony Award winner, leads the revival. He directed Cats: The Jellicle Ball on Broadway last season. In a statement, he said the Real Housewives lens fits Simon’s play with ease. Without changing a word of Simon’s text, he said, the show can reveal “the delicious chaos that unfolds when private lives become public spectacle.” That line sums up the concept well.

The official tagline pushes the joke further: “Reality was just rehearsal.” For fans of Bravo, that line lands at once. After all, these stars built careers on dinner parties that turn tense, secrets that slip out, and friends who rush to cover for each other.

Why This Casting Works — and Why It Matters

First, the casting matches the material. Simon wrote Rumors about image control. His characters care more about how a scandal looks than what truly happened. Similarly, Real Housewives stars know that world well. Their shows run on reputation, loyalty tests, and carefully timed reveals. As a result, the play and the casting comment on each other.

Second, the two-cast plan creates a reason to return. A fan who loves Rinna’s Beverly Hills era can book January. Meanwhile, a fan who follows Eileen Davidson’s soap career can book March. In addition, completists can compare both versions. That choice turns one ticket sale into two conversations online.

Third, the timing is smart. Rinna also headlines the first company, so early buzz centers on her. However, the second company adds soap fans and New York Housewives fans. For example, Davidson brings decades of daytime drama fans with her. Radziwill brings Real Housewives of New York City fans. So the run can draw three audiences at once: theatre fans, soap fans, and reality fans.

Finally, the show tests a wider trend. Reality stars have moved into theatre before, but rarely as a full rotating ensemble. If this run sells well, other producers may follow. If it struggles, it will still prove a point about star power versus stage craft. Either way, theatre watchers will study the result.

What to Watch Next

Watch for the husbands’ casting first. That announcement will complete both companies. Also watch for early reviews after opening night. Critics will ask a fair question: do reality stars carry a classic farce, or does the farce carry them? In addition, ticket demand in the first general-sale weekend will signal which cast fans want most. Finally, Rinna’s Broadway return in November 2026 may shape early interest too. She arrives on stage twice in quick succession, and that double run is rare.

For now, the choice is simple. Pick your cast, pick your date, and expect a dinner party that goes gloriously wrong. After all, that is the promise of Rumors — and, on some nights, of reality TV too.
