Mabel Lowe Honors Late Sister Fiona: “I Will Honor You Forever”

Mabel Lowe honors her late sister Fiona

Mabel Lowe has shared a heartbreaking public tribute to her younger sister Fiona. The 17-year-old posted the message on Instagram days after Fiona’s death at age 13. Mabel is the eldest daughter of actor Chad Lowe and casting director Kim Painter.

“I love you so much fiona,” she wrote. “I wish your short time here was easier, and I hope your mind is at ease now. I will honor you forever and keep your memory alive. I love you, I hope you knew just how much.”

The carousel of childhood photos drew condolences from across Hollywood. As a result, her simple message has been widely shared since Saturday.

Mabel Lowe’s Tribute to Fiona

Mabel shared the tribute on Saturday, October 3. It was one of the first times an immediate family member has spoken directly since the death was announced.

The post included roughly 15 photos of the sisters through the years. They show beach trips, backyard games, and holidays at home. In addition, the carousel ends with a final picture of Fiona dancing — the pastime her family says she loved most.

The tone was deeply personal rather than formal. Instead of a polished statement, the 17-year-old wrote simply as a grieving sister. Her promise to “honor” Fiona “forever” quickly echoed through the comments.

Among those responding was Avengers star Jeremy Renner. He wrote, “My deepest condolences to you and the family.” Jessica Capshaw, Kimberly Williams Paisley, and Selma Blair also left messages of love and support.

What the Family Has Shared

Fiona Lowe died on September 29 at age 13. Her parents announced the death two days later in a statement shared with PEOPLE, as reported by BANG Premier.

They described their daughter as “a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance.” In addition, they said she “was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents.”

“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona,” the family said. “In fact, she was the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating for our entire family, and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.”

Medical Examiner’s Findings

At first, the family did not share a cause of death. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office has since ruled the manner of death a suicide, according to reports from Fox News and Yahoo. Fiona died at a Los Angeles hospital, per the examiner’s office.

In their original statement, Chad Lowe and Kim Painter urged anyone struggling with mental health to reach out. Specifically, they named the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline — call or text 988 — as a resource they wanted highlighted.

Remembering Fiona

Fiona was the middle daughter of Chad Lowe and Kim Painter. The couple are also parents to 17-year-old Mabel and 10-year-old Nixie.

Last year, Chad celebrated Fiona turning 13 on social media. “Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!!” he wrote. “Keep dancing through life FiBear!”

That love of dance was a thread through her short life. Her dance teacher, Kendra Andrews, posted a throwback rehearsal video after the news broke. Meanwhile, her grandfather Charles “Chuck” Lowe shared a photo of Fiona swimming. He wrote simply, “Rest in peace, sweet Fiona.”

Chad Lowe, 58, won an Emmy for his supporting role in the drama Life Goes On. He is also known for Pretty Little Liars and 9-1-1: Lone Star. The family has mostly stayed out of the spotlight, so the public wave of support has been especially striking.

If You or Someone You Know Is Struggling

The Lowe family asked that anyone having a hard time reach out for help. In the United States, you can call or text 988 at any hour to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Outside the U.S., services like findahelpline.com list local options. Finally, if a young person in your life seems withdrawn or hopeless, talk with them openly and involve a trusted adult.

Mabel’s tribute closed with the line now being quoted across social media: a promise to keep her sister’s memory alive. For a family asking for privacy, it was a rare and moving window into their grief. Above all, it honored the 13-year-old at the center of it — remembered by those who loved her most as smart, creative, and full of dance.
