Mayor of Kingstown Season 5: Final Season Premiere Date, Cast, Plot

Jeremy Renner as Mike McLusky in Mayor of Kingstown season 5

Mayor of Kingstown season 5 is the question everyone is asking right now — and the reason is simple. On October 5, 2026, all four seasons of the Jeremy Renner crime drama landed on Netflix in the US and most international markets. A brand-new wave of viewers is tearing through 40 episodes and hitting the same wall: when does the final season premiere?

Paramount+ renewed the show for a fifth season back in January 2026. In the same announcement, it confirmed season 5 would be the last. Filming wrapped in the summer of 2026, and all eight episodes are in the can. Yet Paramount+ has still not set a premiere date. So here is everything actually confirmed about the final chapter of Mike McLusky’s story — plus the best clues about when it will drop.

Why Mayor of Kingstown Is Trending Again

The surge has almost nothing to do with new footage. It is all about Netflix. The show arrived on the streamer through a licensing deal between Netflix and Paramount, the same deal that brought over SEAL Team and Watson. As a result, the Taylor Sheridan drama now has its biggest audience ever. There is one catch for Netflix binge-watchers: seasons 1–4 are on Netflix, but season 5 will stream only on Paramount+. Netflix gets the build-up; Paramount+ keeps the ending.

Mayor of Kingstown Season 5: What’s Confirmed

This final season already has a firm shape. Paramount+ locked in eight episodes, down from the ten each of the first four seasons delivered. Co-creator Hugh Dillon once said Sheridan had envisioned the story stretching to seven seasons. So the show wraps two seasons short of that original plan.

The core cast is back: Jeremy Renner as Mike McLusky, Edie Falco as warden Nina Hobbs, and Hugh Dillon as Ian Ferguson. Laura Benanti, Taylor Handley, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Necar Zadegan, Nichole Galicia, and Lennie James return as well. The big addition is David Morse, joining as a series regular. He plays FBI agent Russell Hardy.

The Season 5 Plot: An FBI Agent Changes Everything

Paramount’s official description sets up the conflict. Agent Hardy arrives in Kingstown after the murder of Mike’s sister-in-law, Tracy McLusky (Nishi Munshi) — the gut-punch of the season 4 finale. A dedicated lawman, Hardy threatens the fragile balance of power Mike has spent four seasons holding together.

What makes him dangerous is the twist. Hardy is not another gang leader or corrupt cop that Mike can bargain with. He is a straight arrow in a town built on anything but the law. He is also hunting Richard Brake’s fugitive Callahan, which may unearth all of Mike’s secrets. Renner has been teasing the stakes on Instagram: “No one is safe this season. I mean Nobody!”

When Will Mayor of Kingstown Season 5 Premiere?

Paramount+ has not announced a date. Its own season 5 guide still lists the premiere as unannounced. Still, the pattern of past premieres narrows the window:

SeasonEpisodesPremiere
Season 110November 2021
Season 210January 2023
Season 310June 2024
Season 410October 2025
Season 5 (final)8TBA — expected late 2026 or early 2027

October is already spoken for on Paramount+. Tulsa King season 4 arrives October 16, and Dexter: Resurrection season 2 lands October 30. However, in fall 2025 the streamer staggered Tulsa King and Mayor of Kingstown about five weeks apart. If Paramount repeats that playbook, season 5 could land in late November or December 2026. If not, early 2027 is the next likely window. Either way, the episodes exist — shooting wrapped in Pittsburgh in the summer. So this is a scheduling decision, not a production delay.

Where to Watch Mayor of Kingstown Right Now

If you are starting from scratch, the breakdown is simple:

  • Netflix: Seasons 1–4, all 40 episodes — the full catch-up, now streaming.
  • Paramount+: Seasons 1–4 plus the coming season 5 — the only place the final season will air.

That is 30+ hours of homework before the finale season. So Netflix newcomers have a clear runway.

What the Ending Means for the Sheridan Universe

This is the first ongoing Taylor Sheridan series to get a firm end date since Paramount+’s acquisition by Skydance in August 2025. Landman, Tulsa King, and Lioness all earned renewals under the new regime. The show never matched the Nielsen muscle of Sheridan’s other hits. Still, eight final episodes give the creative team a planned landing instead of a cancellation cliffhanger. Renner has not fully accepted the word “final,” though. When filming began, he called it the fifth and perhaps final season — adding, “We’ll see about that.”

For now, the move is clear: catch up on Netflix, then keep Paramount+ on standby. The last ride through Kingstown is coming. The only question is whether it arrives in time for the holidays. Will you binge all 40 episodes before the final season drops? Tell us in the comments.
