Robin Montgomery’s mother, Gabrielle Montgomery, raised the American professional tennis player single-handedly. She enrolled her in tennis lessons, marking the beginning of her tennis career.
Born on September 5, 2004, in Washington, D.C., Robin played tennis at age 4 and trains at the Junior Tennis Champions Center in College Park, Maryland. In August 2019, she reached the third round at the US Open girls’ singles and secured victory for the USÂ in the final of the Junior Fed Cup.
In January, she won the “18 and under” title in the 2019 Orange Bowl and her first ITF tournament, the 2020 Australian Open girls’ singles tournament.
Moreover, Robin won her first Grand Slam singles title at the US Open after defeating Kristina Dmitruk in straight sets in the girls’ singles final. Later, she and her partner Ashlyn Krueger defeated fellow American duo Reese Brantmeier and Elvina Kalieva in three sets to win her first major doubles title.
She received a wildcard for the Main draw of the Miami Open and defeated Ana Bogdan for her first WTA 1000-level win. Likewise, she defeated Jule Niemeier in the first round at the 2025 BNP Paribas Open, recording her first tournament win.

Robin Montgomery has revealed in an interview that she grew up without a father, and there is only limited information about him. Her biggest supporters are her mother and grandmother, who raised her in a loving environment.
Afterward, she found a father figure in her longtime coach, Ali Agnamba, the Senior Director of Player Development at the Junior Tennis Champions Center. Ali was a hitting partner for Serena and Venus Williams and was honored with the 2022 United States Olympic Committee National Development Coach of the Year.
Robin disclosed her strong bond with her coach after winning the singles and doubles titles at the 2021 US Open Junior Championships. Simultaneously, she flourished under his guidance throughout her junior tennis career.

Gabrielle, who grew up in a small resort town in Oregon, is proud of her daughter and wholeheartedly supports her decisions and career goals. She enjoys skiing in the winter and also attends her practices whenever possible.
My family that lives in New York came to watch me, my mom, grandma and aunt came up from DC, and I love playing in front of all them. The last time my grandma saw me play was Orange Bowl, when I won that, so I was really happy I could pull out another tournament in front of her eyes.
