Sharon Horgan is having one of the biggest months of her career. Her new HBO comedy Youth is midway through its first season. She also stopped by TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle on Friday morning. And this week brought a major new announcement: the BBC podcast series Sober Companion, which she is executive producing.
For the Irish writer, actress and producer behind Catastrophe and Bad Sisters, October 2026 is both a victory lap and a launchpad. Here is everything happening in Sharon Horgan’s world right now, plus where to watch it all.
Sharon Horgan’s HBO Comedy “Youth”: What the Show Is About
Youth stars Horgan as Alex, a 50-year-old divorcée rebuilding her love life. She juggles dating with caring for her aging parents and her adult son, Ruari. The eight-episode comedy premiered September 20 on HBO and streams on HBO Max. Critics have praised its honest take on midlife dating and menopause. The Guardian called it “utterly hilarious.” The Telegraph found it “painfully true.”
The cast around Horgan is stacked. Rupert Friend plays Patrick, her on-again, off-again love interest. Sharlene Whyte and Robbie Gee co-star. Aran Murphy — the real-life son of Cillian Murphy — plays her son Ruari. The premiere even landed a surprise cameo from Damian Lewis, who gamely played himself.

“Sober Companion”: Sharon Horgan’s New BBC Podcast
The biggest news of Horgan’s week broke on October 15. Deadline revealed she is executive producing Sober Companion, a new BBC comedy-drama podcast starring Bel Powley and Rob Delaney.
The series follows Tim (Delaney), a recovering addict with a new assignment. He must escort troubled pop star Lucy Green (Powley) to rehab in Arizona. However, what starts as a simple job quickly spirals into mishaps, revelations and an unlikely connection.
The talent behind the show is strong. Killing Eve writer Sarah Simmonds wrote the series. Destiny Ekaragha directed it, and Emma Morgan produced. Horgan executive produces alongside Faye Dorn and Pippa Brown for Merman Television Scotland. Meanwhile, Dylan Haskins commissioned the series for the BBC. Jameela Jamil guest stars as Lucy’s manager Sabrina, and DJ Greg James appears as himself.
Sober Companion launches Monday, November 2 on BBC Sounds. It will also air weeknights at 10:45 p.m. on BBC Radio 4.
Why the Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney Reunion Matters
The project reunites Horgan with Delaney, her co-creator and co-star on Catastrophe. The beloved Channel 4 comedy ran from 2015 to 2019 and became a global hit on Prime Video in the United States. Delaney has also spoken openly about his own struggles with alcohol in his twenties. As a result, the material carries a personal edge for him.

For Powley, the podcast caps a busy year. The Diary of a Teenage Girl and The Morning Show star has also been cast as Petunia Dursley. She will play the role in HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter television series, one of the most-watched productions in television.
