Big Brother Season 27: Format and Gameplay Explained
The hit reality competition series Big Brother returns for its 27th season, bringing back its signature mix of strategy, drama, and high-stakes competitions. The format remains largely unchanged, but with twists and surprises to keep houseguests on their toes.
A group of houseguests moves into a custom-built house under 24/7 surveillance, cut off from the outside world. Each week, they compete for power, form alliances, and scheme to avoid eviction.
The last remaining player wins the $750,000 grand prize, while viewers vote for America’s Favorite Houseguest ($50,000).
The week begins with a Head of Household (HOH) competition, where houseguests battle for power. The HOH wins immunity and nominates houseguests for eviction.
Afterward, six players compete in the Power of Veto (POV) competition: the HOH, the nominees, and three others chosen through random draw. The POV winner can save a nominee, forcing the HOH to name a replacement.
The veto holder is safe from being the replacement nominee.
All eligible houseguests, except the HOH and nominees, vote to evict one nominee. The nominee with the most votes leaves the house. However, if there’s a tie, the HOH breaks it.
The last nine evicted players form the jury, sequestered in a separate location. The jury only watches competitions and ceremonies, no strategy discussions.
At the finale, the final two houseguests face the jury, who vote for the winner.
