The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore arrived on September 25 with four additional tracks — “Patient Zero,” “Cleveland!,” “Pink Clouding,” and “Babylon” — and the Taylor Swift Showgirl Encore easter eggs started surfacing within hours. From hidden messages planted in old music videos to lyrics about her wedding to Travis Kelce, here is every clue fans have uncovered so far.
Swift announced the expanded edition on September 23, one day after revealing “Patient Zero” as a single. She explained that after the album scored the biggest first week in history, she traveled to Sweden with Max Martin and Shellback to celebrate. However, a studio was nearby, so they wrote more songs instead. As a result, the four tracks became songs 13 through 16 on the 16-track deluxe.
She Hid the “Encore” for Months
The best Taylor Swift Showgirl Encore easter eggs were planted long before the announcement. Her “Opalite” video from February holds two: at 2:34, a background poster reads “Patient For The Encore,” and at 4:37, four judges each hold up a “0” scorecard. Together, “patient” plus the zeroes pointed at “Patient Zero,” while “encore” revealed the deluxe title.
She also hid clues in a pre-taped Law & Order: SVU sketch at the 2026 Emmys. After saying the answer was “hiding in plain sight,” she delivered odd phrases — “Saccharide. Aries. From the vineyard. North or South.” Fans later found that the third letter of the first six words spells “ENCORE.” In addition, a clock in the sketch showed 10:13, and collector’s edition “Patient Zero” CDs ship October 13. Finally, hours before the single reveal, she changed her bios to “And, baby, that’s sh0w business f0r y0u,” swapping every “o” for a zero.
“Patient Zero” Easter Eggs Explained
“Patient Zero” leads the Encore, and its lyrics hide a tender story: Swift befriends her ex’s current girlfriend. Because she survived his charm and manipulation first, she calls herself “patient zero” and offers support: “If you’re sick of him, I got you, I was patient zero.” It could describe any friend who dated an ex — or anyone who survived the same kind of partner.

“Cleveland!” Is a Love Letter to Travis Kelce

The title is a direct nod to Kelce, who grew up in Cleveland Heights, Ohio: “He already took me to Cleveland / And showed me The Heights, so hate all you like / This is the love of my life.”
The song also answers years of criticism about her looks, fashion, and dancing — including “Would you even call that dancing?” — before brushing it off. One lyric sent fans wild: “The taste of me is acquired, but it’s his favorite dish.” Near the end, she nods to their July 3 Madison Square Garden wedding: “Now I’m wearing white, so hate all you like.” The bridge states the thesis: “You only need to find one person in this entire world / Who doesn’t find you completely insufferable / And I have an important announcement to make / I found mine.”
“Pink Clouding” and Its Quiet Apology

“Pink Clouding” borrows a term from early addiction recovery: a phase of euphoria, optimism, and false confidence. Swift casts herself as the apologetic villain, as on “Getaway Car” and “Back to December”: “Neither of us knew at the time / That I was a liar,” she sings, adding, “I was pink clouding from the thrill of it.”
She also offers a direct apology: “I hope you realized my kind of trouble wasn’t worth it / And the way I treated you, you never deserved it.” Fans have guessed at the subject — from Joe Alwyn and Tom Hiddleston to her reconciliation with Karlie Kloss — but those readings remain speculation.
“Babylon” Calls Back to Folklore

The closer revives a symbol from Folklore‘s “cowboy like me”: “Now you hang from my lips like the Gardens of Babylon / With your boots beneath my bed, forever is the sweetest con.” Here, she tells the other side of that story — a romance that collapses while one person chases success or money. It may be autobiographical, or it may be pure storytelling.
What’s Next for the Showgirl Era
The “Patient Zero” video premieres September 27 at the VMAs, where Swift becomes the first Artist Director Honoree. The new artwork — shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, who did the original cover — shows her in a gold mini dress. For now, the Encore is streaming-only.
