In an interview with Robi Robert on “Good Morning America,” Colton said that he is gay.

“This year’s been a lot for a lot of people, and it’s probably made a lot of people look at themselves in the year and figure out who they are,” Underwood said. “I’ve run from myself for a long time; I’ve hated myself for a long time. I’m gay. I came to terms with that earlier this year, and the next step in all of this was letting people know. I’m the happiest and healthiest I’ve ever been in my life. That means the world to me.”
Colton Underwood also stated that he wishes he had accepted and told his truth sooner.
“I’ve had sort of a range of responses, and the underlying most common was ‘I wish you would have told me sooner and when I hear that, I wish I would have had faith in my friends and family a little bit more,” Underwood continues. “The only reason I’m sitting down with you today because I have the love and support of my friends and my family.
Underwood, who spent a few years in the NFL after signing with the San Diego Chargers in 2014, began his reality TV stint on Becca Kufrin’s season of “The Bachelorette” before going on to star on “The Bachelor” in 2019. He and his final rose recipient, Cassie Randolph, dated until last year.
Career
Before starting his reality TV career, he previously appeared in American football and had trials for NFL teams. In the year 2016, he ended his sports career and jumped onto modeling and reality tv. He was a professional sports person from the year 2014 to 2016.
Being practicing on the Oakland Raiders and Philadelphia Eagles squad in 2014, Colton played tight end at Illinois State. San Diego Chargers signed him as well. Later he is released by the Raiders. After removing from the Raiders, Underwood became a contestant on the 14th season of The Bachelorette, and then “The Bachelor” announced him as a leader of a 23rd season of the show.

After coming out as gay, the 29-years-old actor and tv personal announce that he is getting his own reality show on Netflix. The project is being in production and will be focusing on an actor living his life publicly as a gay man. The show is unscripted and will have multiple episodes. Meanwhile, Netflix itself didn’t make any announcement about this project yet.
The news about his new show comes out after the actor came out on national television on Wednesday morning and opens about his sexuality. While the full scope of the series is under wraps, an insider tells Variety that Olympian Gus Kenworthy will appear in the series, acting as a guide, of sorts, for Underwood.
It isn’t very certain when the show will air, but the source says that Colton Underwood is currently filming.

While on the reality show “Bachelor,” Underwood heavily marketed as “The Virgin Bachelor,”. And his virginity was a major storyline — something he later states that he believed was “overblown,” but not necessarily exploited.
Before the show, Colton was in a relationship with Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman. During the show, Calton Underwood fell in love with Cassie Randolph, one of the show’s contestants. Following the season’s finale, they dated until April 2020.
