After the massive success of 1000-lb Sisters, TLC has released another reality series 1000-lb Best Friends. 1000-lb Sisters featured the struggle of Tammy Slaton and her sister Amy Slaton with weight loss and family issues. Similarly, 1000-lb Best Friends also focused on four friends and showed their journey of sisterhood, self-discovery, and weight loss.
1000-lb Sisters aired its first season on 1 January 2020, and they have three seasons overall. Their second season aired on 4 January 2021, and the third season on 15 November 2021. Thus, the TLC network aired a 1000-lb Best Friends spinoff on 7 February 2022. 1000-lb Best Friends features the four girl gangs battling obesity with heart and humor. Vannessa Cross, Meghan Crumpler, Tina Arnold, and Ashely Sutton are the casts of the reality series 1000-lb Best Friends.
1000-lb Best Friends is all about weight loss and leading a healthier lifestyle. This series is about four girl gangs battling obesity together, like 1000-lb Sisters. Tom Cappello, Alana Goldstein, and Keely Walker are the executive producers, whereas Vasoula Plakas and Davis Schewel are the co-executive producers of the reality series.
Vanessa Cross and Meghan Crumpler have been closed since childhood and struggled with their weight. They have also appeared in the Discovery+ series, Too Large. It featured their inspirational lives, determined to take care of their health with bariatric surgery. Megan qualified for the surgery, but Vanessa didn’t. They continue documenting their trials and tribulations as they try to lose weight and make healthier choices on the new show, 1000-lb Best Friends.

The leading cast of 1000-lb Best Friends, Vannessa Cross, was born in McDonough, Georgia, and she currently resides in Jonesboro, Georgia. Her father also struggles with being overweight. She lived with her mother in a car at the age between 4 and 5. She grew up with her elder sister Jakie Cross. Vannessa studied at Stockbridge High School alongside Meghan Crumpler.
The reality star isn’t married but has children, Jacob Cross, Justin Cross, and Werner Cross. She is determined to get her target weight of 200 lbs. Previously, she didn’t qualify for bariatric surgery, as maintaining her diet was nearly impossible.
Meghan Crumpler
Meghan Crumpler is another central cast of 1000-lb Best Friends. Her best friend is Vannessa Cross, and they have been together since Stockbridge High School. David James Crumpler and Wana Teresa Crumpler are her adoptive parents, and she grew up with Ashley Wood. She doesn’t talk much about her biological parents.
On 24 February 2021, Meghan engaged Jon. She started dating Jon at age 35, and they have an age difference of 10 years. Jon loves her very much and supports her in her weight loss journey. She weighed 486 lbs and needed an oxygen cylinder to breathe, but she lost her weight to 441 lbs.
Tina Arnold
Tina Arnold is the third cast of 1000-lb Best Friends. She is also an author who has written nine books. She earned an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Teaching from Ashford University in 2020. Tina and Meghan were friends from teens, and they currently reside in Hoschton, Georgia. Meghan lives with Tina in her basement.
Tina married Johnnie Arnold, and they have four children together. Meghan Crumpler is the godmother to one of her children. Johnnie serves as the producer of the group’s upcoming podcast. Tina felt heartbroken when she couldn’t match her energy with her youngest children. She weighed over 300 lbs in 2021; this time, she is starting to lose weight again on national television.
Ashley Sutton
Ashley Sutton is another cast of 1000-lb Best Friends trying to lose some weight on national television. However, she has kept her lifestyle low profile. She has been struggling with weight for the past 30 years and weighs around 378 lbs. Previously, Ashley went through gastric sleeve surgery but gained weight all again.
The 36-year-old reality star is single and ready to mingle. She was born in Riverdale, Georgia, and currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia. Ashley is often active on social media, but some sources claimed she had cleared most of her social media before the show. She studied at Spelman College.
