Sean “Diddy” Combs was rushed to the hospital from a New Jersey federal prison early Saturday morning after suffering a head injury. The medical emergency is only the latest twist in a chaotic stretch at FCI Fort Dix — one that has also brought solitary confinement, a sliding release date, and a massive fine.
TMZ broke the story on Monday, October 12, 2026. Sources at the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix told the outlet that Diddy was taken off prison grounds by ambulance around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10. He received treatment for what TMZ described as a “non-threatening” head injury. The 56-year-old music mogul was conscious and speaking when he returned to the facility before sunrise. So far, no one has said how the injury happened.
What We Know About Diddy Being Rushed to Hospital
Diddy’s representative, Juda Engelmayer, confirmed the team is aware of the reports. He added that they are “working to confirm the circumstances” and that Diddy’s health and wellbeing are the immediate concern. The Federal Bureau of Prisons has not explained the injury. In fact, the BOP rarely discusses individual cases at all.
The hospital trip caps a turbulent few weeks for the Bad Boy Records founder. Last week, reports surfaced that Diddy had been sent back to solitary confinement. The reason, according to NBC News, was alleged “VIP” treatment behind bars. For example, fellow inmates were reportedly cooking and cleaning for him — and even giving him massages. The same report mentioned contraband, including top-shelf alcohol, a cellphone, and a tablet.

Diddy Prison Timeline: How His Release Date Keeps Changing
Diddy’s projected release date has shifted at least five times since his sentencing. However, each change followed a new headline. Here is the full timeline:
- July 2025: After an eight-week federal trial, a jury finds Diddy guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. At the same time, the jury acquits him of sex trafficking and racketeering. He receives a 50-month sentence. The initial projected release date is May 8, 2028.
- November 2025: The date moves back to June 2028. This follows reports of a fight with another inmate — plus claims that Diddy was making and drinking alcohol behind bars.
- September 2026: After another reported inmate fight, the date moves up to February 5, 2028. Soon after, good behavior pushes it even earlier, to January 21, 2028.
- October 2026: NBC News exposes Diddy’s lavish prison lifestyle, including the alleged VIP treatment and contraband. As a result, the release date slides back to March 2, 2028 — six weeks later than the January date.
In addition, Diddy was hit with a $477,700.50 fine after NBCUniversal demanded nearly $1 million in legal fees. The fees came from his failed civil complaint over the broadcaster’s documentary, Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy. A judge dismissed that suit in May 2026.

Why Does Diddy’s Release Date Keep Moving?
The constant changes are not as strange as they sound. Federal release dates are recalculated as inmates earn or lose “good time” credit. Disciplinary problems can push the date back. Good behavior and program participation can pull it forward. So the moving date itself is routine.
What makes Diddy’s case unusual is how publicly each change has played out. Every adjustment has traced back to a fresh headline: a fight, homemade alcohol, VIP treatment, contraband. Meanwhile, the BOP refuses to explain any of it. “For privacy, safety, and security reasons, we do not comment on the conditions of confinement for any incarcerated individual,” the bureau said in a statement. Even Diddy’s own team is in the dark. “We are never given any explanation for how the BOP calculates or adjusts projected release dates,” Engelmayer said.
What’s Next for Diddy
First, his legal team is still fighting the conviction on appeal. Second, he faces around 70 civil lawsuits across the country from people alleging sexual abuse. Those cases will follow him no matter when he leaves Fort Dix. Finally, his spokesperson says Diddy “remains focused on serving his time” and is “looking forward to spending quality time with his family when he returns home.”
For now, the books show a March 2028 release. But given the last year, few would bet on that date holding. The head injury that sent Diddy to the hospital remains unexplained, the appeal is pending, and the civil cases are stacking up. Diddy’s time behind bars is anything but quiet — and this weekend’s hospital run is only the latest chapter.
