Angelina Jolie sells LA home — and with it, she closes one of the most personal chapters of her life. The Oscar winner has sold her historic Los Feliz estate for $24.75 million, according to property records cited by multiple outlets, after putting the home on the market for $29.85 million in May.
The final price landed about $5.1 million below her asking price. It also sits just $250,000 above the $24.5 million she paid in 2017 — before nearly a decade of taxes, maintenance and selling costs. In other words, one of Hollywood’s most famous estates changed hands with barely any gain for its famous owner.
For Jolie, the sale was never about profit. The mansion was the family base she built after filing for divorce from Brad Pitt in 2016. She has said repeatedly that she stayed in Los Angeles for her six children. Now that they are all adults, she is finally free to plan her next move.

Inside the Historic Los Feliz Estate
The home Jolie is leaving behind carries nearly a century of Hollywood history. Built in 1913 and designed by architect B. Cooper Corbett, the Beaux Arts estate was acquired by legendary filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille in 1916. DeMille lived there for roughly four decades. In 1920 he expanded the grounds by buying the neighboring home once leased by Charlie Chaplin, then joined the two residences with a glass corridor.
Set inside the gated Laughlin Park enclave, the property spans about 2.1 acres and offers roughly 11,000 square feet of living space. Inside, the main residence features six bedrooms and ten bathrooms. The grounds add a 1,000-square-foot guest house and studio with its own private gated entrance. There is also a 40-foot swimming pool, a pool house, a fitness studio and a tea house. A separate garage includes a dedicated security station. That is a telling detail for a star who has always guarded her family’s privacy.
Meanwhile, century-old trees, manicured lawns and panoramic views of the Hollywood Hills, the Griffith Observatory and the iconic Hollywood Sign explain the home’s premium price.

The timing of the sale is no coincidence. Jolie previously told The Hollywood Reporter that she stayed in Los Angeles “because I have to be here from a divorce.” Still, she added, “as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave.” Her youngest children, twins Knox and Vivienne, turned 18 in July. So all six of her kids are now legal adults: Maddox, 25; Pax, 22; Zahara, 21; Shiloh, 20; and the twins, 18.
“When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, safety,” she said in that same interview. “I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place can be … that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here.”
So where is she headed? Jolie has said she hopes to spend more time in Cambodia. It is the country where she adopted eldest son Maddox, and where she later filmed First They Killed My Father. A source close to the actress told TMZ she has not yet settled on a permanent base. Instead, she plans to travel between her adult children and Cambodia.
What the Sale Reveals About Her Next Chapter
Celebrity watchers had been tracking the listing for months. Madonna was reportedly among the interested parties and even took a virtual tour of the estate. The buyer’s identity, however, has not been publicly confirmed by major outlets.
In addition, the modest return on the sale underlines how personal this decision was. Jolie bought one of the most storied properties in Los Angeles. She raised six children behind its gates. And she is now walking away as all of them stand on their own. The $24.75 million price tag may be the headline. But the real story is a mother finally reclaiming the freedom she promised herself.
As a result, expect the next chapter to look very different: less Los Angeles, more travel. For the first time in years, Jolie will choose where to live on her own terms.
