Dafne Keen, offered cocaine at Hollywood wrap parties from the age of 11, has told the story in her own words — and it comes with a tribute to the co-star who kept her safe. The 21-year-old Logan star spoke about her childhood in the industry on the November 3 episode of Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast. She described the offers she turned down, and the protection Hugh Jackman gave her on the Logan set.
Keen played Laura, also known as X-23, opposite Jackman’s Wolverine in Logan, the 2017 film that made her a star overnight. She was only 11 when she shot it. The film reached cinemas shortly after her 12th birthday. The wrap-party offers, she said, came during those early years — at end-of-production celebrations, adult rooms a child actor can suddenly find herself in.
Born in Madrid on January 4, 2005, Keen is the daughter of actors Will Keen and María Fernández Ache. She made her screen debut at 10 in the BBC series The Refugees. Logan changed everything. Since then she has worked steadily — His Dark Materials, Star Wars: The Acolyte. Off screen, she keeps her private life out of the spotlight. We have covered her relationship with musician Teo Planell separately.
Dafne Keen Offered Cocaine at 11: What She Said on the Podcast
The conversation started with a simple question about drinking. Rosenbaum asked Keen about her relationship with alcohol. She answered candidly. “I don’t think I’ve ever been drunk enough to even have a hangover,” she said. “I’m such a control freak with that. Because also I think as a child actor I witnessed so much of that as a child that I just had no interest…”
Then came the line that stopped the interview. “I was getting offered coke at wrap parties,” Keen said. “Like, tiny. Like 11, 12, 13. So I saw what that was, so I was like, ‘I don’t really have any interest in that’… I was saying no, fortunately.” Rosenbaum asked her to confirm the age. She did — and made clear she turned every offer down. The short version: Dafne Keen, offered cocaine at 11, said no — and kept saying no.
Keen was careful about what she did not say, too. She named no one who made the offers. She did not tie them to any single production. As a result, her account reads as a portrait of an environment, not an accusation against any individual. That distinction matters.
She also explained how she handled the pressure as a teenager. “I did used to lie as a teenager so that I wouldn’t get peer pressured,” she said. She told people at parties, “Oh my God, no. I’m already so high.” In reality, she was drinking soda. She happily called herself, in her own words, “the goodest goody two shoes ever.” Today, she still avoids drugs and alcohol. She will happily stay out until 6 a.m. — sober.
The fame that followed Logan brought its own scares: Keen said adult male fans turned up at her tiny school in Madrid after the film came out, and she called the experience terrifying.

How Hugh Jackman Protected Dafne Keen on the Logan Set
If the wrap-party circuit was the dark side of her childhood career, the Logan set was the opposite. She gives Hugh Jackman the credit for that. “He gave me a lot of really positive reinforcement and a lot of really good advice,” she said. “And he was always so lovely. He’s just the best number one you could ever wish for.”
Jackman, she said, treated her like a daughter on set. “He’s the best on-screen dad,” Keen told Rosenbaum. “He genuinely felt like a sort of parental figure.” “He made sure that no one was abusing my hours, that I was having fun on set, that I wasn’t aware of any tensions that would’ve been happening behind the scenes,” she said. “He was so incredibly protective and amazing.”
That protection mattered: Logan was an intense, R-rated shoot, and Keen was carrying a huge share of it at 11. She returned to the role in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), reuniting with Jackman. Keen has also spoken recently about filming Logan with the late Sir Patrick Stewart — our tribute is here.

Why Her Story Has Restarted the Child-Star Safety Conversation
Keen’s interview has reignited an online debate about how Hollywood looks after its youngest stars. Her account describes a child being offered drugs at work events. Meanwhile, her praise for Jackman shows the other side — what protection looks like when an adult on set enforces it. Productions that employ minors, for example, are expected to limit working hours, keep a guardian nearby, and keep children away from adult-only spaces. Yet Keen’s story suggests the rules on set were one thing, while the parties and premieres around a production were another. We explored that history in our look at 90s child stars: where are they now.
What’s Next for Dafne Keen?
Keen’s next chapter is already taking shape. She is set to play Artemis in the upcoming season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and she starred in the horror film Whistle (February 2026). In addition, she will appear in Night Comes, the directorial debut of actor Jay Hernandez. Her podcast appearance, though, has brought a new kind of attention — not for a role, but for the honesty of a former child star describing what she saw and refused, and who stood up for her.
