Tulsa King Renewed for Season 5 Before Season 4 Even Airs — and Dwight Is Heading Back to New York

Sylvester Stallone at The Expendables 3 premiere in Berlin

Tulsa King season 4 does not premiere until Friday, October 16 — but Paramount+ has already made its next move. The streamer renewed the Sylvester Stallone crime drama for a fifth season this week. Not a single new episode has aired yet. And the next chapter has a major twist: Dwight “The General” Manfredi heads back to New York.

The early renewal is a loud vote of confidence. Networks rarely order another season of a show viewers have not seen yet. So why did Paramount+ act this fast? The answer: strong viewership, a star who keeps delivering, and a growing franchise.

Tulsa King Season 5: Everything Paramount+ Announced

Paramount+ announced the season 5 renewal on October 5, less than two weeks before the season 4 premiere. Production started the same day — in New York, not Atlanta.

The relocation is about story and money. Season 5 takes Dwight back to his New York mafia roots, so filming there makes sense. New York State’s expanded film and television tax credits also offer major savings for big productions, as Geektown reported. Season 1 filmed in Oklahoma City, season 2 moved to Atlanta — so New York becomes the show’s third home base.

The cast is growing too. Scarlet Rose Stallone, who plays Spencer, is now a series regular for season 5. Four new actors join her as series regulars. They are Erik Palladino (ER, I Play Rocky), Glenn Fleshler (Billions), Anthony Skordi (Law & Order: Organized Crime), and Nickola Shreli (Power Book IV: Force). Paramount+ has not revealed their characters yet. Fans will have to wait to learn who helps Dwight — and who gets in his way.

Behind the scenes, Stallone recently signed a new deal. It mirrors his seasons 3 and 4 arrangement and helped lock in the renewal. Terence Winter — the Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire veteran who ran season 1 — is back as head writer and executive producer. Taylor Sheridan, who created the series, also executive produces alongside Stallone.

Tulsa King Season 4: Premiere Date, Cast, and Story

Before any of that, season 4 arrives on Friday, October 16, 2026, on Paramount+. The first trailer dropped on September 28. The official synopsis promises a darker chapter. Dwight fights to legitimize his empire and protect his crew. But corrupt politicians, dangerous new enemies, and a crushing personal loss hit from every direction. Each move drags him deeper into the street instincts he left behind in New York — turning Tulsa into a battleground.

The returning cast includes Martin Starr as Bodhi, Jay Will as Tyson Mitchell, Vincent Piazza, Annabella Sciorra, Frank Grillo, Neal McDonough, Garrett Hedlund, and Dana Delany. Gretchen Mol joins as a series regular. October is packed with new releases, from The Social Reckoning to streaming premieres. Tulsa King’s return is one of the month’s most-watched TV events.

Why Renewing Before the Premiere Is a Power Move

Early renewals are rare in television, and they send a clear message. A streamer does not commit to another expensive season unless the data already looks great. In this case, the numbers back it up. Season 2 became Paramount+’s most-watched global premiere ever with 21.1 million viewers, according to Memorable TV.

There is also a business angle. Paramount has been reshaping its strategy, and dependable franchises matter more than ever in the streaming wars. Tulsa King is now only the second Taylor Sheridan series on Paramount+ — after Yellowstone — to expand into a full franchise. For the show that gave Stallone his first major TV lead role in 2022, that is quite a run. If you need something to watch while you wait, our binge-watch guide has plenty of options.

What’s Next: The Frisco King Spinoff

The franchise is not stopping with season 5. A spinoff titled Frisco King, starring Samuel L. Jackson, is already in production. That makes Tulsa King one of streaming’s quietest franchise-building success stories.

For now, all eyes are on October 16. Season 4 will show how Dwight gets pushed back toward his New York instincts. Then season 5 picks up that thread in the city where his story began. Old grudges, old allies, and plenty of unfinished business are waiting.
